Don’t Be A Minion, Be A Minister

minionorministerJesus’ strategy was not for His church to be led like a dictator leading his minions. Instead, he had in mind for every follower to become a minister since the inception of the church. His plan was for a few spiritual leaders to train and equip people to do the work of ministry.

The Apostle Paul explained it this way,

Let the Bible Interpret the Bible

bible interpOftentimes when reading the Bible we can come up to a verse, phrase or word that we might not fully understand. There’s a simple practice that I follow that has unlocked many passages that used to stump me as a beginner Bible reader. This practice came very handy in my last message when I needed help understanding what Jesus meant when he said, “Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God” (Matthew 5:9). Here it is: Let the Bible Interpret the Bible.

Express Your Faith Through Baptism

baptismfrontIf you have decided to make Jesus the forgiver and leader of your life, then your next step is to be baptized. Baptism is one of the first things Jesus asks us to do when we decide to follow him. It’s an unforgettable moment to celebrate with friends and family as you express Jesus > me.

What Bill Murray Taught Me About Discipleship

securedownloadIn my favorite 90’s comedy, What About Bob?, Murray plays Bob Wiley, a psychiatric patient who follows his egotistical psychiatrist Dr. Leo Marvin (Dreyfuss) on his family vacation. As Bob explains his obsessive compulsive behaviors, his doctor advises him to read his book, Baby Steps, and learn to take “small, reasonable goals, one day at a time, one tiny step at a time.”

Better Before Bigger

betterbeforeI heard a story about a Chick-fil-A board meeting from an Andy Stanley podcast that gives us an incredible leadership insight. Back in the 90’s there was a company called Boston Chicken that eventually became Boston Market. It was Chick-fil-A’s first serious competition as they were both in the chicken restaurant business. Well, Boston Market had huge expansion plans. (They wanted to have a Billion Dollars in sales by the year 2000.)
