Express Your Faith Through Baptism

baptismsIf you have decided to make Jesus the forgiver and leader of your life, then your next step is to be baptized. Baptism is one of the first things Jesus asks us to do when we decide to follow him.

It’s an unforgettable moment to celebrate with friends and family as you express Jesus > me. The Apostle Paul described it like this, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life” (Romans 6:4).

Discussion Guide: Easter

Isn’t it funny how two people can look at the same situation and come up with two completely different conclusions? Think about Easter. For some people, the Easter story is about the incredible truth of the most inclusive, welcoming, amazing message the world has ever known.

  1. Talk about a time when you misinterpreted an event or something someone said because your perspective was all wrong. What was the result of your misinterpretation?

  1. Read John 20:1-29. How would you describe the emotions of the different characters throughout this account?
  1. How would you describe Jesus’ interaction with those he is speaking with in this account?

  1. Which character in this version of the Easter story do you relate with the most? Why?

  1. In what ways does “the resurrection punctuate the meaning of the cross”?

  1. Why is the resurrection so foundational for Christ followers? How would you explain that to someone who doesn’t yet believe?

The message of Jesus cannot be contained. It must be shared. That’s why we do what we do: bridge the gap from where people are to where God wants them to be.

You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. Acts 3:15

Discussion Guide: Putting Religion in Its Place // March 29

We want answers for life’s mysteries. Is there an afterlife? Will I see my mom again? What does the Bible say about divorce? Does the Bible say we have to give ten percent of our money to the church? Religion tries to answer those questions. Religion is about answers, order, predictability. Unfortunately, life isn’t about any of those things. Life can be messy. Religion has a place in our lives, but Jesus taught us it shouldn’t be in the first place. When religion takes first place, it begins flexing its muscles at the expense of mercy.

1. Do you tend to follow rules to the letter, bend them when it suits you, or outright break them? In what ways do you think that tendency has influenced the way you view God?

2. What are some reasons people find rules comfortable and comforting?

3. Read Isaiah 1:13, 17 & Matthew 22:34-40. How do these verses challenge most people’s views of God? What do they tell us about what he values?

Serve on a Team

serveEvery week, our Service Teams share their time and talents to create a welcoming and inspiring worship environment.

Host Team
Host Team is how we welcome, inform, and serve those that attend our Sunday Services. Host Team is not just one thing. Its a synergy created by a number of factors: volunteers, facilities, signage, leaders, and the “feel” of the church.
Children’s Team
Our Children’s Team works hard to create a safe and meaningful class experience for your children. It’s a team of creative and caring teachers, security personnel, worship leaders, and assistants that help children learn that God made them, loves them, and wants to be their forever friend.

Worship Team
The Worship Team strives to inspire people through music, media, and the message. We have creative, technical, and non-technical volunteer positions available and no experience is necessary to get started.

Part 2: Why In The World // March 22

If there is a God, we all want to know what he’s like. We’re curious. Our tendency is to look in nature, outer space, or within ourselves to find clues about him. But that only provides us with an incomplete picture. Jesus made a radical claim. He said if you want to know about God, look no further than him. If you’ve seen the Son, you’ve seen the Father.

1. Talk about a time when you overcame adversity, large or small. What did you learn from that experience?

2. Read John 9:1-41. The Pharisees allowed their theology to become an obstacle to mercy for a man cured of blindness. What are some modern examples of people mistreating others because of what they believe?

3. Do you ever wonder if your suffering is your fault? If so, how has that shaped your view of God?
